International Roaming | New Zealand

Part 1.

Now Roaming

To showcase our latest range, International Roaming, we took the Pedla team and our new collection roaming. We knew that for this collection, we wanted to capture roaming in all its elements: the pre-trip prep, nighttime airports and the excitement of a midnight arrival in a new city, the bliss of waking early, the mix of relax and rush as you start the day going somewhere completely new.

Forest Lodge at Castle Hill

Hidden along this route, tucked away on a gravel road, is our accommodation at the Forest Lodge at Castle Hill. This huge lodge is painted forest-green, the inside all warm wood and epic window views to the alps at our doorstep. The Craigieburn Ranges beckon the mountain bike rider in summer, autumn and spring, and in the winter months, skis and snowboards trace countless lines over the alps.

Arthur’s Pass National Park

We have the route mapped. Exit Christchurch and head north-west. Take Highway 73 through the expansive Korowai-Torlesse Tussocklands Park, skirt along Lake Pearson and then cross Waimakariri River. This is the Canterbury High Country and nature’s entranceway into the spectacular Arthur’s Pass National Park. Well before European settlement, the pass (called Ōtira–Waimakariri) was used by Māori traders to carry pounamu (jade) across the Southern Alps. These were the ‘greenstone trails’.

We love to get out and roam. We love how riding takes you places. Find your moment to roam. International Roaming - now riding.

What does roaming mean to you?

Throughout this season’s journey we’ll be roaming the world and championing our stockists and ambassadors.

Stay tuned for new stories and new loops.

The Republic of Otira

Roaming lets us find a new local, somewhere to return to and stock up for the ride that day, or a once-off stopping point that lets us rest and refuel. We find our new local in the Arthur’s Pass Store; our daily stop that brings something familiar to an unknown place. The weather takes a sudden turn on our final day. Late summer snowfall isn’t unusual in the high alps. We end on a cloudy day, with rain in the valleys and snow on the peaks - a reminder of the fast-shifting weather in the mountains. We pack our bags, our bikes, and take Highway 73 back to Christchurch. We’re bound for home again, but ready always to get back out there and find our next destination.

The Kit

Our new collection refines and reinvents our classic garments, giving you superb technical features for all roaming conditions. We believe function fuels performance. The latest in fabric technology gives what you need to get out there, to pedal and roam.

Roaming Bib - Shorts with in-built pockets

Our roaming shorts reboot a team favourite, the SuperFIT bibs, with added tech and smart thinking storage. Using the same fabric and cut as our SuperFIT bibs, our roaming long haul knicks feature extended length mesh side panels with in-built pockets for storing what you need close at hand. The side mesh design allows ventilation to avoid moisture accumulation, keeping your phone, wallet, whatever you need, protected. The Long Hauls are now roaming in women's and men's.

Long Sleeve Lana Jersey

A cross-seasonal essential, the Lana Long Sleeve Jersey combines the luxury of wool warmth with the flexibility of jersey fabric. Enjoy warmth and superb soft movement on cooler days and early mornings, or layer up in winter. We’ve added reflective detailing in our signature Pedla dots both front and back to give added visibility on the road, and the exposed Vislon® zipper ensures lightweight and robust functionality.

Plaid FLYT  Wind Vest with rear zip pocket

Thoughtful design sees practicality and function work together in this lightweight, Gilet. The lightweight fabric gives an added barrier against wind and brisk days. Then it’s ultra packable so you won’t even notice it until you need it. A rear zipper pocket lets you safely stash your valuables - an essential for the constant movement of the roaming rider.

It’s safety smart, too. Be visible with reflective detailing front and back in signature Pedla dots.
