Taiwan in Textures.

Written by Marcin Wójcik - Co-founder and Creative Director

It’s been some time since I last visited Taiwan. Back in 2018, we took the Pedla racing team over for the Taiwan KOM, one of the most gruelling and iconic races in the world. We documented the team as they competed in this epic challenge, capturing the raw effort and emotion on one of cycling’s most demanding climbs.

This year, we returned to Taiwan for several reasons. Most importantly, to visit one of our key retail partners, Cycling FABRO. It’s a relationship built on years of shared passion for cycling, and one that has only grown stronger over time.

We’d asked the Fabro team to gather sketches inspired by the varied surfaces of Taiwan, concrete, stone, terrain, and used these to develop a print layered with local texture and meaning. The workshops brought the community into the journey, showing how a place can shape a product.

To mark this ongoing partnership, we worked together on a collaborative, limited-edition cycling jersey. The design blends elements of Taiwan’s diverse textures and landscapes, creating a piece that speaks to both Fabro’s home and Pedla’s design ethos.

The trip was short — just six days — but packed. We flew into Taipei and were warmly welcomed by the Fabro crew and the local cycling community. The energy and hospitality were incredible. We were lucky enough to be taken on several rides, from the lush northern hills to the steeper climbs in the south — joined by many Pedla riders along the way. The roads were breathtaking.

The timing of our visit also aligned with the launch of the limited-edition jersey. To celebrate, we hosted a number of rider events and small art workshops, offering a look into the creative process behind the print. We’d asked the Fabro team to gather sketches inspired by the varied surfaces of Taiwan — concrete, stone, terrain — and used these to develop a print layered with local texture and meaning. Our days were filled with group rides, delicious meals, great coffee, and shared stories. We’re incredibly grateful to the Fabro team and the Taiwan cycling community for the warm welcome — and we’re already looking forward to coming back again soon.
