Great Knicks when used as they are designed to be used
I’ve worn Pedla’s SuperFit and LongHaul Knicks for years now and have always been really impressed with them, so I had high expectations of the new Core range.
First of all, they were extremely comfortable. The ‘second skin’ description is real, they are much more malleable to your body, with less of a compression feel. They are also slightly longer than the SuperFit and LongHaul, if you’re a fan of knee length Knicks. The braces are extremely soft, and I didn’t notice them at all while I was riding - I love the lower profile of them verses the seams on Pedla’s other Knicks. Sizing wise they seem to be pretty consistent with Pedla’s sizing although there is definitely more stretch in the Core range than Pedla’s other offerings.
Performance wise - they remain very comfortable while riding. I did a full day in them but broken into two rides - a shorter 10km ride and then a longer ride ~45km with some significant steep climbs in the heat and some commuting around. They remained comfortable all day, but the chamois is rated for around 3 hours and I think that’s a pretty accurate assessment. If you’re someone who prefers a more low profile chamois you might find these are more comfortable for longer days, but I was pretty happy to get out of them after wearing them for 10 hours!
I’ll be reaching for these for morning bunchies and short rides, especially in the heat. But they won’t be the pair for big days in the saddle (that’s not what they are designed for). As long as you…
